Healing Isn’t Pretty — It’s Necessary

There’s a version of healing that people don’t talk about. Not the romanticised kind with candles and journaling and aesthetic peace. The mornings you wake up and everything still hurts. The version where you don’t feel like you’re getting better, you just feel tired. The version where you feel like you’re on a high for a week then suddenly you’re back to that same hole as if nothing had ever changed
I used to think healing would feel like light. Like freedom. Like a breath of fresh air.
But the truth is…at first, healing felt like grief.
Grieving the old version of me. I remember sitting on my prayer mat, hands shaking as I made a dua that felt too heavy to speak. I told Allah, "I don’t know what I’m doing. I just know I can’t live like this anymore."
And that was enough.
Because healing didn’t come in the form of a miracle. It came in quiet shifts. One difficult conversation. One boundary. One honest moment with Allah.
If you’re in the thick of it right now, if it feels like everything’s falling apart, if you feel broken or messy or lost
please know:
you are not doing it wrong. Healing isn’t linear. It’s layered. Some days you’ll feel strong.
Other days, you’ll want to run back to what broke you because at least it was familiar.
But please don’t. Stay the course. It’s not pretty, I know.
But it’s necessary.
And you’re doing better than you think.
But I know sometimes you need more than words.
You need something to do when the ache is loud.
Something to hold onto when everything feels like it’s slipping.
Things to do in your healing journey:
Talk to Allah unfiltered, make lots of dua
journal - write it all down, sit with your feelings, find the root
Go for walks with no destination - nature does wonders for the mind
Declutter your space, it will help give you a clearer mind
Do one thing a day that makes you happy
Seek support from those who love you
with love.
